India is the spiritual home of our meditation practice, it is a land of great beauty, epic history and vibrant contrasts.

This year for the first time we are offering two itinerary options for the India retreat.

FOR THE ROMANTICS

Delhi – Agra – Panchakarma
Meet your personal tour guide in Delhi and take the opportunity to explore the delights of the Old and New cities, visit ancient and modern temples, the bustling spice markets and get a sense of the rising presence of India in the modern world. Then, travel by superfast train to the ancient Moghul city of Agra to visit the glorious Taj Mahal, the ultimate symbol of love, and explore the surrounding artisan communities.

After three nights in Delhi, you will travel to Rishikesh to meet with Tim for nine days of panchakarma treatment.

This itinerary is for anyone who would like an introduction to this land of great beauty, epic history and vibrant contrasts.

FOR THE ADVENTURERS

Gangotri Hike – Panchakarma
Or, for the more adventurous, join Tim for a 3-day hike through stunning mountain landscapes in the Himalayas to Gaumukh, the source of the holy Ganges River.

You will fly to Rishikesh, from where you will travel by helicopter to Gangotri, where it is said the goddess Gangha first descended to earth from heaven. Visit the Gangotri temple, one of the most sacred pilgrimage spots for devout Hindus.

You will camp in Gangotri then trek 14km to Bhojbasa, a remote village in the vast, open country between Gangotri & Gaumukh with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. You will camp overnight here then hike five kilometres up to Gaumukh, the mouth of the glacier and the source of the Holy Ganges River.

After reaching Gaumukh and and dipping your toe in these most auspicious of waters, you will hike back down to Gangotri where you will again travel by helicopter to Rishikesh.

This trip is for the adventurous who would like to experience one of the more beautiful and remote treks in the world.

After these expeditions we will meet together in Rishikesh in the foothills of the Himalayas – one of the most spiritual cities on the planet. People have been pilgrimaging to Rishikesh, to bathe in its beauty and in the river Ganges for millennia. Here you let go of irrelevancies of thought, behaviour and past experience in order to create new beginnings. It is a very special place.

While in Rishikesh we will enjoy nine days of personalised traditional ayurvedic treatment designed to detoxify, nourish and balance the body from an ayurvedic perspective. This includes consultation with an ayurvedic doctor to determine your individual health status followed by a bespoke treatment plan that will include daily full body massages performed by 2-3 practitioners simultaneously, ayurvedic food prepared specifically for our program and other ayurvedic treatments specific to your personal needs.

Your daily program will include ayurvedic treatments, meditation, yoga, and a lecture series with Tim.

We will bathe in the Ganges while we are in Rishikesh (it is beautiful and clean up here in the north), watch the sun rise over the Himalayas from an ancient temple, visit the ashram Maharishi Mahesh Yogi taught from in the 60’s and the Beatles visited, visit an orphanage, white water raft down the Ganges, and join evening celebrations on the banks of the river.

This is the pinnacle retreat of our year and I invite you to consider joining us for this magnificent two weeks of adventure, health and wellbeing, spiritual development, the camaraderie of like minded people and a lot of fun.

I will also be offering an opportunity for people to learn to meditate in India with me. This is a very auspicious opportunity – to learn to meditate at the source of our knowledge and to also enjoy the benefits and experience of the rest of the retreat. So, this trip of a lifetime is available to all levels and experience of meditators, from the experienced, to new meditators and to those who have not yet learnt to meditate.
